Purpose
In a solvent, 2-ethylhydroanthraquinone is generated through hydrogenation, and upon re oxidation, 2-ethylanthraquinone and hydrogen peroxide are regenerated. This reaction is used industrially for the production of hydrogen peroxide. It can be obtained from the reaction of phthalic anhydride and ethylbenzene through Friedel Crafts, or from the synthesis and dehydrogenation of 1,4-naphthoquinone and 2-ethyl-1,3-butadiene through Diels Aldidene. Used for the production of hydrogen peroxide and as a dye intermediate, as well as as as a photosensitizer for photosensitive resins, photocatalysts for photocurable resins, photodegradation films, coatings, and photopolymerization initiators
